WOOLLY BEAR – FILM, FILM, UPSTATE NEW YORK, USA, 2013
While visiting home in Upstate New York in the fall, I noticed a lot of woolly bear caterpillars crawling seemingly in one direction as if to a calling. In the Northeast, woolly bears have a particular folklore for predicting weather like the groundhog. More brown than black is said to mean a mild winter. Every fall, before winter, the woolly bears instinctually and without choice, search for a place to hibernate and the roads, cars, and general traffic pose a significant obstacle to this life cycle.
