WOODS + MIRRORS, Installation, Berlin, Germany, 2021
For our esteemed client, a second invitation to redefine their living space led us to conceive ‘Woods and Mirrors.’ This installation, a departure from the weighty grandeur of our prior ‘Stepped Walnut Wall,’ sought to imbue the space with an ethereal rhythm.
The installation, a symphony of wood and mirror, breathes life into the surrounding environment, capturing fleeting glimpses of the outside world and drawing them inward. The interplay of materials creates an ever-shifting dialogue between solidity and void, between presence and reflection. Depending on one’s vantage point, the wall reveals itself as either a continuous expanse of wood or a fragmented composition of wood and mirror, dissolving the delineation between interior and exterior.
As the eye travels across its surface, the wall undergoes a subtle transformation, transitioning from the depths of darkness to the lightness of reflection. This gradient of tone not only adds visual intrigue but also subtly manipulates the perception of space, lending an air of expansiveness to the room. ‘Woods and Mirrors,’ with its delicate balance of materials and interplay of light, stands as a testament to the transformative power of architectural intervention.
