The Eclipse Lamp is a silent sentinel against the intrusions of direct light, designed by Justin Allen for ALLEN KAUFMANN OBJECTS. Crafted from a single round plate of heat-treated steel, its surface bears the unique patina of the forge, an organic map of ochres and umbers. Robust and unwavering, the Eclipse finds its purpose in creating a refuge of shadow, a sanctuary for meditation where the world’s distractions recede. In its stark geometry, the lamp is both a utilitarian object and a quiet sculpture, a monument to stillness in the corner of a room or a lone figure on a horizontal, wooden surface.
