RED BULL POS TOOLS, BAR TOOLS, Berlin, Germany, 2017
Red Bull, ever the vanguard of cultural engagement, sought to immerse themselves more deeply into Berlin’s eclectic nightlife. They found, however, that their existing bar tools weren’t making the desired impact in the city’s most avant-garde establishments. It was a challenge that resonated with us.
We proposed aluminum foam, a material with a distinct allure, largely untouched by the mainstream. Its fabrication possibilities, textural intrigue, insulating properties, and impressive strength-to-weight ratio presented a unique opportunity.
For months, we delved into Red Bull’s world, immersing ourselves in its ethos while simultaneously exploring the nuances of Berlin’s nightlife. This symbiotic process birthed a series of innovative concepts, each tailored for the city’s discerning clientele, yet with the potential for global appeal.
The resulting objects transcended mere functionality. They became sculptural refrigerators, interactive tablets, captivating displays, elegant menu holders, and even reimagined “ice buckets.” Each piece, a testament to the fusion of material exploration and cultural understanding, sought to elevate the bar experience, one Berlin night at a time.
